Transport Swab with Medium(Stuart)
Description
Transport Swab with Stuart Medium is a disposable sterile medical device for clinical sample collection, transportation and short-term storage. Its core design includes a polyester or rayon swab head, a polypropylene rod and Stuart medium. Sodium thioglycolate in the medium provides a reducing environment, sodium glycerophosphate and calcium chloride maintain buffering capacity and osmotic pressure balance, and a neutral environment of pH 7.4±0.2 can effectively maintain microbial activity, especially for the preservation of fastidious bacteria such as Neisseria gonorrhoeae. The medium is a semi-solid non-nutritional formula that can inhibit microbial proliferation but keep it alive. It supports room temperature or refrigerated transportation, is sterilized by γ rays and meets CE certification standards. It is widely used for specimen collection in the urogenital tract, throat, wounds and other parts to ensure that the samples are stable and reliable before laboratory testing.
